Welcome to everyone who just watched Whisky Tasting Wednesday March 3rd, 2021
I would like to extend my personal welcome to everyone who joined us for Whisky Tasting Wednesday. We just ended the live cast, and the whisky is hitting my brain, so I happily greet you all!
Tonight I tried something new. I bought a bottle of Rebel 100 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (BTW, is it “whisky” or “whiskey”? Kind of like “ketchup” and “catsup”)
I have a sweet palate, which is why I’m not a big whisky drinker. Whisky – the water of life – is a dry alcohol, and that’s where the bourbon comes in.
So here are the two mixed drinks I created tonight.
1 – The Whisky Cherry Bit ‘O Love
2-3oz Rebel 100 Bourbon Whiskey
Dr. Brown’s Black Cherry Soda
Soda water or carbonated water
Ice
Fill your glass with ice. Sweet drinks like this are best serves “on the rocks”. Pour in the bourbon whiskey until the glass is JUST UNDER HALF FULL. Add the soda water until the glass is 3/4 full, then add the black cherry soda. You may need to adjust the ratios a bit, but when you have the right blend of bourbon whiskey and cherry soda, the mixture tastes like rum and coke.
2 – Butter Whisky Candy
2-3 oz Rebel 100 Bourbon Whiskey
Flying Cauldron Butterscotch Beer (non-alcoholic)
Soda water or carbonated water
Ice
Fill your glass with ice. Pour in the bourbon whiskey until the glass is JUST UNDER HALF FULL. Add the soda water until the glass is 3/4 full, then add the butterscotch soda. The soda will float on top of the soda water, so when you drink the cocktail the butter will coat your tongue – YUM! You won’t notice the bourbon whiskey – but I promise you as I write this now… IT WILL SNEAK UP ON YOU!
